Every class has those few children that finish every assignment super quick and then disrupt the class by saying "I am done, what should I do now?" You can eliminate this by introducing this super cute chart that has easy to read font and pictures that will give students different options as to what they can do when they are finished working.
I have this hanging on a wall in my classroom and I used a giant push pin to hang it up. I printed and laminated all the pages and then I used ribbon and a glue gun to assemble it.
Each student has a clothespin with their name on it and every morning before the students arrive I move the clothespin to a different activity. Sometimes, I need to move it throughout the day depending on what the student needs. The students know to look at the chart to see what activity they can do whenever they are finished working.
You can use all of the options or just a few and then gradually add more as your students become familiar with the new routine.
Please feel free to leave any questions or comments and let me know how it works out for you in the classroom!
