Singing to babies helps establish auditory attention to the parent's voice which supports language development in the early years. This is a 4 page unit of parent handouts (1 of the 12 units contained in the Babbling with Babies e-book) for use in early intervention on the topic of Music with Babies. In this unit parents will learn about the importance of singing to babies and the relationship to their baby’s early speech and language skills. If used 1 page per week this has the potential for a month's worth of parent education content. Appropriate for birth to two years of age.
Each page serves a different purpose.
The READ page is a synopsis which describes the topic for the unit.
The PLAY page describes various activities to help promote the skill around a common object or toy.
The TALK page provides practical suggestions for expanding language and communication through daily routines in common places.
The THINK page is focused on a question or task for the caregiver to complete to further bridge their understanding of the skill and generalize it to other activities and tasks throughout their day.
