Introducing the Little Explorer's Club! Two Early Literacy Reading Logs for Summer at the library. There is one for June and one for July. This is intended to supplement library reading clubs for older children.
The front features the Little Explorers' Club Logo and space for the child's name and age. Open it up and it features a full-page spread of a cute scene of animals and stones with early literacy activities. The back explains the program as a summer reading club for children from birth to age 3.
These are both built to be printed on legal paper and folded in half to make a booklet 8.5" high and 7" wide.
These reading logs come in a variety of options. For both June and July, there are color and black and white options. If you are tight on a budget and charged more for color prints, I'd encourage you to use the black-and-white option. Also, I've found it helpful to print June on one color paper and July on another color paper so library staff and patrons can quickly and easily tell the difference.
Also, for both June and July, the reward for completing the month of early literacy activities are slightly different.
For the June reading log, you can choose the one that says:
"Bring back to the library anytime in July when all activities are completed and receive a rubber ducky."
Or the one that says: "Bring back to the library anytime in July when all activities are completed and receive a prize."
For the July reading log, you can choose the one that says:
"Bring back to the library anytime in August when all activities are completed and receive a book."
Or the one that says: "Bring back to the library anytime in August when all activities are completed and receive a prize."

Wording on the back cover (same for both June and July):
The Little Explorer’s Club is a summer club at your library just for children from birth to age 3. The activities in the Little Explorer’s Club help parents and children build skills children will need to learn to read—the six Early Literacy Skills!
The Early Literacy Skills are:
Print Motivation—Children learn that books are enjoyable!
Phonological Awareness—Children can hear the individual sounds in words!
Print Awareness—Children understand that words can be written!
Vocabulary—Children hear lots of different words to build their
Narrative Skills—Children develop their storytelling skills!
Letter Knowledge—Children recognize their letters!
Children begin to develop the skills they need to learn to read from the day they are born. Early literacy is not learning to read. It’s fun games and interaction that allow children to develop the skills they’ll need when they begin to learn to read. The most important part is to have fun with your little one!
