This Early Literacy unit focuses on alliteration. Activities in this unit will aid students in identifying words that begin with the same sound and support the development of sound to letter correspondence. Both phonological awareness and phonics activities are included to meet students’ needs along the early literacy continuum. Multiple and salient opportunities are provided purposefully to make it easier for students to identify letter-sound patterns of familiar pictures and words.
Activities are designed for explicit small group instruction or for use as independent center activities. Some suggested whole group instruction ideas, extensions, differentiation and assessment ideas are provided. All the activities in this unit are aligned with Common Core, Texas Pre-K guidelines and kindergarten TEKS.
