Students often have difficulty with chronology when studying historical events. Timelines, although useful, are often wordy, overemphasize exact dates, and don't provide students with enough of a snapshot of the essential information they need to establish chronology and cause and effect patterns.
Scaffolding for Social Studies Group was unhappy with many of the timelines out there regarding early Reconstruction, so I created this one! Congressional and presidential actions are color-coded and bound in boxes, while other events are encapsulated in ellipses or rounded rectangles. These events and actions are placed chronologically in relation to one another, rather than focusing on exact dates. Great for any Civil War and Reconstruction Unit!
