Topics/terms covered include: The History of Earth Day, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Biodegradable.
This is an interactive, 75 slide presentation on Earth Day. It is divided into three segments with direct links provided to each segment in the opening slide. The three segments are:
The History of Earth Day- a complete history of how it all began and how it has grown since. There is also a discussion of the government action that came about due to Earth Day. This section ends with an interactive component where students click on events and put them into chronological order.
What Can You Do: The Three R's: this section discusses reducing waste, reusing material when possible, and recycling when it isn't. It gives students many ideas of how they can help conserve resources and protect the environment. This section ends with a comic-driven discussion about how humans affect the environment compared to other living things,
Recycling Around the World- this is a fun matching activity that tests students knowledge of the history and cultures of other countries.
There is also a 10 Question worksheet that goes along with this presentation. The questions are in the order that they are covered in the slide show.
