Description
This Freebie includes an ABC Order activity and a differentiated Earth Day Vocabulary Matching activity. Challenge your students to practice placing words in ABC order while learning vocabulary words about Earth Day. This resource is a great way to build vocabulary, combine reading, language arts, and science into one fun and engaging resource!
Earth Day gives us great time to pause and reflect on actions that we can take to help preserve our natural resources.
I have included both color and black and white versions of both activities.
•The ABC Order consists of vocabulary words that can be associated with caring for our planet.
•There are 9 Earth Day-inspired words for students to alphabetize.
•Vocabulary Match Up is an activity that allows students to go more in depth with the meaning of the words that they are learning or studying.
•I have provided one version with the actual definitions of each word and 1 “kid-friendly” version of the definitions. This will allow you to differentiate the activity as needed.Directions for Vocabulary Match Up:
•Cut out the vocabulary words.
•Create a small flap on the left side of the paper by making a small crease in the paper.
•Place glue on the flap that you created. This will allow you to connect the word to the proper definition and still be able to view the definition.
•Glue the word over/to the definition.
Possible Uses for the Activities Include:
•Whole or Small group
•Completed with teacher support
•Independent Work
•Partner or Buddy completion
•Teaching tool to introduce the unit/mini-unit on Earth Day
• To introduce new vocabulary
•If you work with older students:
•As a Pre-Test to identify what students already know
•As a Post-Test or quiz at the end of the unit of study
•As a formative assessment
•Just for fun and to enhance the learning experience
Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! Please return to my store to share your positive experience with the Earth Day ABC Order and Vocabulary Matching Activity. This is also a great way to earn TpT credits towards the purchase of additional resources from my store or other Sellers' stores.
Thank you!
