Welcome to Art Bursts! A SIMPLE way to incorporate art history into the classroom.
This lesson is an Art Burst - Museum edition. Students will observe, discuss, and create!
This lesson will expose students to the work of Charley Harper. It highlights three of Harper's works - specifically some of his bird themed art. Discussion questions are provided to help students become critical thinkers and gain confidence in expression of ideas.
Instructions are included for a simple art project to reinforce ideas/art concepts from the discussion.
This lesson includes an 8 - page powerpoint presentation with the following:
-An overview of the highlighted artist
-An art word of the day
-Digital images of the paintings
-Thought provoking discussion questions with answers included in presenter's notes
-Guidelines for a simple art project
-Student work examples

This is the perfect supplement to Earth Day activities! The finished projects will make a striking display for your classroom walls!
The activity can be completed in 40 minutes. Art Bursts can be used as an interdisciplinary tool by using the artworks as a writing prompt.

Art Bursts - Museum lessons can also be supported as an International Baccalaureate lesson.Through discussion of the artwork, students are encouraged to think critically and challenge assumptions.
