Happy Earth Day Articulation Penny Toss!
1) Toss (or drop from above) a penny on the page. If the penny doesn’t land on the page, toss or drop again. (TIP: You can put the articulation sheet in a cookie pan and toss the penny...or even toss/drop a magnet if you are using a pan.)
2) Say the word that is CLOSEST to the penny. Earn 1 point. (Use tally). BONUS: For more complexity, have student/child say each word 3x, in a phrase, or in a sentence.
3) If your penny lands on a picture, earn 2 points for your tally.
Play with a partner or partners (other students, parents, clinician, etc). See who can earn the most points!
**For children who need help with reading: Adult can say the words first, child repeats.
**Tally sheets are included for a 2-player and multi-player game. Multiple ‘games’ on each tally page (1 game = 1 section/box).
Sounds included (1 page of each sound, each position = 19 articulation pages):
*/r/ initial, medial, final; /l/ initial, medial, final
*/s/ initial, medial, final, plus /s/ initial blends
*/sh/, /ch/, and /j/: initial, medial, final; plus a Create Your Own page
**Lists may include a wide range of vocabulary words. Some words are more difficult due to co-articulation; however, the words were still included as challenge words. Additionally, many of the challenge words are sometimes high frequency words (example: ‘were’, /w/ can make final /r/ more challenging).
--I generally give the child a penny to ‘take home’ for home practice. We tape it on to the directions page in the “penny box”.
--Each student can have their own page! Great for articulation groups...each student can have the target sound they are working on!
