Engage your students in this fun and relevant project where students plan an Earth Day Festival. The project begins with a mini Web Quest designed to give student some background on Earth Day. After that, students work to determine a budget for the different activities at the festival and then present their plan and budget to the "city council". ( A grading rubric is included for the presentation.) Some Earth Day activities are already proposed, while other activities can be developed by the students. There are many opportunities to apply relevant math and language skills in this engaging project:
Creating a Poster
To challenge older students, you can include calculating tax for the items needed for the activities.
This project would work for a wide variety of age groups. It also could be used for emergency sub plans and keep your students busy for several days.
I LOVE Project Based Learning and have several PBL products in my store. I now have a GROWING BUNDLE that includes this product as well as the following 8 Project Based Learning Activities. I plan to add one PBL product every 3 months or so. As I do, I will be raising the price of the Growing Bundle, so it pays to purchase this bundle early. If you do, you would receive an email notification when I add more products to the bundle, and then you can re-download to get the new products. Check out the other 6 products included in the Growing Bundle so far:
