This packet includes:
Text Dependent Question Sets for 2 wonderopolis articles, available free online at wonderopolis.org.
3 writing extension activities including research, flyer, friendly letter
Critical Thinking Questions
1 graphing activity
Question sets for 2 paired text books: Jane Goodall: Chimpanzee Expert & The Watcher: Jane Goodall's Life with Chimpanzees
This packet would be great for 2-5th grade classes as differentiated lessons as the wonderopolis articles are written at a higher reading level than the 2 books. It would also be perfect for a librarian to do as each lesson takes about 30-45 minutes, or perfect for small group instruction!
Also- the wonderopolis articles are perfect to display on an activboard and read together as a class and have students work in teams to complete the questions. They are perfect for grades 4-6 while the Jane Goodall paired text study would be perfect for 2nd-3rd grade. However you choose to use the activities, I know your students will enjoy learning more about the Earth Day themed topics and practice ELA skills such as drawing conclusions, cause & effect, compare/contrast, and other text dependent skills. There are also 3 writing activities that could be used to extend learning- researching an endangered animal, designing a flyer to persuade classmates to recycle, and a friendly letter to Jane Goodall. Enjoy! If you have any questions please email me at email@example.com!
