Informational text and student activities.
This resource includes a reading passage about the origins of Earth Day as well as the origins of some of the words associated with the celebration. It also very briefly alludes to the development of the English language.
The text has a work page including vocabulary and comprehension question activities.
A list of 34 words associated with Earth Day is also included to help students choose a word to research for the “word origin challenge”. This page is not numbered and is at the very end of this file.
A full answer key is provided for objective work.
Designed for middle school students (strong Grade 6's and some Grade 9's), please have a look at the preview file for suitability for your students.
