Earth Day Math - Project-Based Tasks:
This set of five open-ended scenarios can be used in many ways. Try them as project-based tasks, team assignments, learning stations, or worksheets.
The open-ended prompts are intended to be used to get students started with researching and problem solving. They investigate the costs of each alternative and use the following skills:
- unit rates & unit prices
- operations with decimals
- proportional reasoning
- conversions with time, money, and more
If you prefer to take out the individual research time, you can use the included FACT CARDS. These include given costs, assumptions, and information that students can work from.
**Please read the preview file for detailed information on using these tasks. You can see sample pages and ideas for implementation.**
