PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Can you recycle that? Help children answer this question with this fun game where they have to sort recyclables and garbage. You can use the photo cards and sort them onto the mats, or make this more interactive by gathering the materials shown in the cards (you should be able to find these in students’ and teachers’ lunchboxes) and having students sort these into different containers. In my classroom I use a blue basket for a recycle bin and a black tub for a trash can.

If you choose to gather the actual materials, then students can use the cards to help them if they get stumped. Some of the materials that I have included are recyclable in our area of the country, others are items that our school collects as part of TerraCycle’s Recyclable Brigades (for more information check out their website www.terracycle.com). If these are not items that you typically recycle then do not include these cards when you do this activity with your students. I have included blank cards so that you can include your own photos of objects to sort.
