There is no way to adequately do a standard vocabulary exercise on all of the terms in Earth Science. Writing definitions is not an effective method of vocab learning. True learning comes when students interact and transform the content. However, there are some words that trip up students on standardized state testing and this activity is meant to complete as a review for that state testing or before a unit test where that term becomes important. These are 8 words that I feel students should fully understand what they are and how they are used in an Earth Science context. Understanding these should help them answer state standards tests. Many times, failure to understand what the question is asking is the reason students miss questions.
