NGSS aligned to standard ESS3-2 and ESS2-2. Students investigate earthquakes by looking at maps and learn about the causes of earthquakes. Students are then given the STEM challenge to design an earthquake resistant building. Once students have planned designed, tested, and improved their design they are asked to create an earthquake action plan. This STEM challenge goes through the engineering design process- (Ask, imagine, plan, create, improve). All of these documents are student friendly. Ready to print and give to your students. They include detailed directions on each page. You will need to have some materials on hand for the students or the students can bring in their own materials from home. This lesson takes about a week for students to complete.
