This SMART notebook presentation teaches the 3 types of faults that cause earthquakes- normal, reverse, and strike-slip. It goes over the Richter and Mercalli scales and explains why both are used to measure earthquakes. At the end of the lesson I gave students chocolate frosting and a graham cracker and they had to slide the cracker around on the frosting to model the 3 types of faults. Links to useful internet sites included. Enjoy!
