Description

According to the USGS, New Hampshire is considered to be an area of moderate seismic hazard. This means that the state could experience large (6.5-7.0 magnitude) earthquakes as seen in the past large earthquakes, but they are not likely to occur as frequently as in a high hazard area like California.

This is a stand alone activity on earthquakes in NH to be used with a Natural Hazards or Earth and Human Impact Unit. This activity includes background information on earthquakes that occur in New Hampshire and the surrounding New England States, a student web quest worksheet and teacher answer key. Two NH Fault Line Maps are included to provide an additional tool to respond to the web quest questions.
