Interactive and COLORFUL activity in which students explore the dynamic nature of Earth's rotational and revolution periods. Students differentiate between rotation and revolution as well as the differences between a star, planet, moon (satellite), supernova, comet, and asteroid. Students than assign images to either the rotation or revolution scheme.
The rotation and revolution organizer requires naming the correct planet, its revolution and/or rotational period, and assignment of rank compared to other planets.
Cut and paste or Velcro and laminate for special education applications and alternative assessments.
Within the classroom, this activity has been consistently very successful and acclaimed by students in grades 3rd – 7th within multiple types of schools - public, private, and charter.
Applicable to many state science assessments and benchmarks.
Has been applied to state mandated North Carolina end of year tests for science in grades 5 and 8.
