This lesson plan is Common Core aligned but it also encompasses traditional reading instructional practices. The lesson plan includes a reproducible book that students can read, write in, and make their own. The text is appropriate for advanced 1st grade and second grade. The reading lexile is 445L.
Students will use a Venn diagram to compare/contrast fresh and salt water. Students will have opportunities to write about what they have learned. This lesson also includes a Cloze comprehension formative assessment so that you can monitor your students' comprehension progress.
