Product Description
In this spring reading activity, students will practice sight words and increase fluency as they sort sight word sentences according to the number of words they contain. There are 60 sentences using over 160 Dolch sight words! Recording sheets are also provided (in color and black & white) so students can write 3 of the sentences they read. This product is perfect for your literacy center or to use for reading instruction. A directions page has also been included in case you want to use it as a take home activity.

I plan to laminate the cards and add magnets, placing the activity on my filing cabinet. Adding the answer on the back of each card will also make it a self-check activity.

This product addresses the following Common Core Standards* for Kindergarten to Third Grade:

RF.K.1.Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page. Understand that words are separated by spaces in print. RF.K.3.Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Read common high-frequency words by sight (e.g., the, of, to, you, she, my, is, are, do, does).
F.K.4.Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding.
K.OA.2. Solve addition and subtraction word problems, and add and subtract within 10, e.g., by using objects or drawings to represent the problem. K.OA.5. Fluently add and subtract within 5. F.1.1.Demonstrate understanding of the organization and basic features of print. Recognize the distinguishing features of a sentence (e.g., first word, capitalization, ending punctuation).
RF.1.3.Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Decode regularly spelled one-syllable words. Recognize and read grade- appropriate irregularly spelled words. RF.1.4.Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding. Use context to confirm or self- correct word recognition and understanding, rereading as necessary. 1.OA.6. Add and subtract within 20, demonstrating fluency for addition and subtraction within 10. 2.OA.2. Fluently add and subtract within 20 using mental strategies.2 By end of Grade 2, know from memory all sums of two one-digit numbers. RF.2.3. & RF 3.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Recognize and read grade-appropriate irregularly spelled words. RF.2.4. & RF 3.3 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension Read grade-level text with purpose and understanding.
