After seeing this on Pinterest, I made my own version and am pretty happy with it! This is a great activity to have students use to practice their word families. I bought the plastic Easter eggs at the dollar store and the same with the letter stickers. On one side of the egg you put the word family (-ug, -in, -ap, etc.) and on the other side you put the beginning sounds that make the words. Students twist the eggs to make words in the word family and then put it on the worksheet provided. The family ending goes in the box on the egg and the words go on the lines. Once students have filled out an entire word family box and have spelled everything correctly AND can correctly identify the word they have written, they can open their egg and find the prize inside ( I use stickers). This is best used in small group work so that you only have to make 6-8 eggs and you can quickly refill the eggs with new prizes. Once students are completely finished with their word families they can color the worksheet and write sentences using their words on the back!
