In this engaging, Easter-themed activity, students will be creating new words by adding on either a prefix or a suffix. This purchase contains the recording sheet for this fun activity! All you need to do is buy some colored plastic eggs (I get them at the Dollar Tree), and label them with either root words or common prefixes or suffixes. Students put together eggs that make a new word :-)
Ex: one egg may have "test" and the other have "pre" on it. Those would match together to make "pretest."
Then, they record the prefix or suffix, the root word, the NEW word, and a definition on the recording sheet. The second page just contains large cards with the words "prefix," "suffix," and "root word." They can be laminated and used as a scaffold for when students are attempting to build words. This is a cute and hands-on way of practicing and applying morphology skills. PDF file.
