This Easter themed product features cracked Easter eggs used as a kid-friendly visual to compare, order, and perform operations using fractions and decimals representing the same value. The packet includes:
- 3 activities in which students match the "egg part" decimal with a fraction that has an equal value (cut & glue), then write the decimals in order from least to greatest on a number line provided
- 2 activities in which students determine whether a given fraction or decimal is less than, greater than, or equal to a stated value, then follow color code instructions to color the matching Easter eggs
- 1 activity in which students figure out the missing addend on an Easter egg top so that the two addends equal "one."
-2 activities in which students use their place value knowledge and computation skills to determine missing factors when given one factor and a product solving multiplication with decimal problems.
The activities in this packet will most likely pose a challenge for your students, as they require some strategic thinking and a solid understanding of basic fraction and decimal concepts.I had the "rigor" and "deep understanding" reflected in the Common Core State Standards in mind when I designed these materials. Depending on the age and ability of your students, the activities provided might serve as guided practice instructional materials, cooperative group work, or independent practice. Please take a look at the preview to get an idea of the product content.
If this product looks like material that would provide appropriate instructional material for your students, you may want to take a look at my TpT store, which has many K-6th grade materials in a variety of subject areas. Please leave feedback. I truly value the input I receive from my colleagues as I continue to design instructional materials. Thanks for looking!
