Interactive adaptive books are great for emerging readers, with limited reading abilities as well as for students with Autism, Intellectual disabilities and for students with low vision as the pictures are large, clear, and bright.
In this set, you get 2 interactive books to go along with an Easter the month of March/April. Each book has a repetitive sentence with 10 pages in each book with 10 interactive icons.
Book one is "I See" with Easter day pictures and vocabulary to learn all about things you see on Easter day.
Book two is "How Many?" with different Easter day items to count on each page. The student counts the pictures then places the number icon on the blank box on that page. This book works on counting from 1 through 10.
Great for students to practice independently, with guided help or 1:1 with more severe disabilities.
What is an adaptive/interactive book?
It is any book that has been modified in some way to make it more accessible to a student who is struggling with typical books. Examples may be: simplified text, age appropriate text adaptations, tactile additions, pictures/pages simplified and not overly busy, braille, contain die cut pieces or a story board with Velcro for the student to interact with on each page.
Who are adaptive/interactive books used for?
Adaptive or interactive books are great for students with special needs, struggling readers in a regular education classroom (ie use in centers or during read-to-self where a struggling reader may not be ready to read independently), ELL students or an Early Childhood classroom. I have many readers who are below grade level but can read past a kindergarten level who love to use these books and interact with them as well! I like to put a tub of them in my reading corner that are seasonal and switch out each month!
