A great Easter activity for students learning addition, but also as a review activity for older students.Students also utilize their inductive reasoning skills, as the pieces will only work out in one manner.
The puzzle is aligned to the following common core standard:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.1.OA.D.8—Determine the unknown whole number in an addition or subtraction equation relating three whole numbers.
This file contains six different versions of the same puzzle. They all contain addition and subtraction problems that must be matched up with their missign digit. The puzzles differ in how the graphics are depicted, and not in the missing digit problems. The first two versions contains four eggs/bunnies, which make it easier for the students to put the puzzle together. The second contains nine eggs/bunnies, and the third sixteen eggs/bunnies. In the third puzzle, the eggs/bunnies are just found on the individual pieces, and therefore will not aid in the students putting together the puzzle. You can differentiate amongst ability groups with the three puzzles. Roman numerals are also included in the middle of the pieces so that a teacher can quickly check if the student is correct.
Your purchase includes a PDF file of the puzzles. Although it isn't necessary for use, it is recommended you print the puzzle on cardstock and have it laminated prior to cutting it out so it can last for years to come.
