This is a fun-filled activity geared to help students understand how to create a sentence with a focus on subject-verb agreement and word order.
This activity includes:
-- 2 different center directions cards and 2 different recording sheets for you to use depending on your kids’ needs.
-- 2 sets of the word cards. One set is in a black font and is intended to be cut and glued to the colored paper labeled at the top of the group. One set is in a colored font and is ready to use. Each set includes determiner/pronouns, nouns, verbs, and prepositional phrases. I highly encourage you to laminate your word cards.
This activity can be used in whole group, small group, or individually. When going over directions, please emphasize that not all purple cards (nouns) go with all green cards (verbs). Subject-verb agreement needs to be taught prior to this activity.
Students can organize their words
-- using a pocket chart, (This is how I have them do it in my room.)
-- at their desk,
-- on the floor,
-- or small magnets could be attached to the back of the word cards, and students could organize the words on the classroom’s magnetized white board.
I hope your kids enjoy it as much as mine do.
