This is a project-centered activity where students work in groups of 4 to investigate five different eastern religions. The belief groups are Hinduism, Buddhism, Shintoism, Taoism and Confucianism. Student groups should draw a religion name out of a hat.
The project is research centered involving each student in researching one topic about one particular religion. All the necessary information about the belief system will be gathered as all 4 students complete their research.
The 4 students will each then give an oral presentation about a part of the religion the group chose. The oral presentation must be accompanied by student-made visuals including drawings of places of worship, symbols of the religion, a map of Asia, and clothing worn by people who practice these beliefs.
Student handouts include specific instructions for completing all parts of the project. A suggested scoring guide is provided.
