ELSS K2© is a quick and easy screening tool. Unlike the 1st Edition, it is aligned to standardized language assessment tools rather than Common Core standards. It is helpful for identifying students who may need formal assessment whereas the 1st Edition is more helpful for identifying students who may benefit from intervention but may not be low enough to qualify for Special Education services. This screening tool targets listening comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and associations. Articulation targets are the same in the 1st Edition and 2nd Edition. Targets include: initial and final T, K, G, F, S, and initial L, S blends and L blends. It is not normed or standardized. It will yield a percentage score that can be used to determine the need for intervention, consultation or further assessment. Pass/Fail criteria are determined by the Speech and Language Therapist.
