Easy Peasy Science Made Simple –Observing Seeds
Seeds are sensational! Every seed observation is like discovering a new gift given to us from nature. Little ones will be engaged for weeks as they develop the scientific skill of making observations and recording their discoveries. For many years I focused instruction on how seeds grow and what they need. I discovered many children had not had the opportunity to develop the basic scientific inquiry skills of observing nature and describing what they see. This “Easy Peasy Science Made Simple”, activity is a great introduction to any classroom preparing to study, grow or experiment with seeds and plants. Children are exposed to seeds every day. They enjoy eating them in strawberries or cucumbers, collecting them from apples and watermelons, or watching them sprout beautiful flowers and vegetables in the garden. With this activity children will learn how to identify and describe the seeds that they know and love.
