I created my printable books as a teacher time saver and because they provide successful reading material for beginning readers. As a teacher myself, I get frustrated trying to find those perfect Level A or B books for my students. To see my young, beginning readers, successfully reading these books, was such a joy! To hear them say "I can read!" just makes me smile. I know you will feel the same way too!
There are many ways to use these books, but this is how I used them: First, read the color version of the book to your students. You can print it out on cardstock and laminate it for durability. Next, make a black and white book copy for each student in your small reading group (preferably 3-5). For Guided Reading, have the students to find the sight words, color the picture and write the sentence on the space at the bottom of the same page. Sight words can be highlighted as well.
If you like this style, I have other printable books here at my TpT store! Use one book per week and work on it each day. Then, keep it in the book box in the classroom, or send it home for your children to practice more reading at home. I sent home the finished book at the end of the week and had the students read it to their family for weekend homework. This is homework that they were excited to do! A parent called me on the weekend so excited because her son was reading a book to her!
I hope you enjoy these books as much as my students did!
