Thank you for taking a peek at my Easy Science Journal Pages for Our Youngest Scientists. These pages are designed to prompt thoughtful , reflective thinking in an easy to use format! In addition they are aligned with Common Core ELA W.K.8 and W.1.8.
The journal pages provide thinking stems which prompt our youngest scientists to peel back the layers of their thinking providing a guided format for a reflective scientific process.
• Begin with the I wonder and have students write the question they want to test.
• The students then draw their design plan for testing their question adding details and labels as warranted.
• Students will implement their plan then record their findings below the plan box.
• The second page takes the learner though the rethinking, refining and reflection process which will come full circle and take them to a new question they may need/want to investigate.
My kindergartners use this science journaling format. It has been my observation that these layered steps of guided thinking bring my students full circle as learners. Repeated exposure of this simply stated, full circle inquiry process through the course of the school year creates learners where the process becomes a way of thinking. I notice the vocabulary and thought process are internalized and applied in other content areas/situations beyond science journaling!.
For fun, as well as organization, I included 3 journal cover choices if needed/wanted.
Enjoy the Science Journal Pages!! Please check out other products I have listed in my TPT store and follow me! I promise you will be happy you did!
Have fun, and most of all – Happy science thinking!
