My students really wanted to play Silent Night for their concert, but I could not find an arrangement easy enough for them to sound really great so I made one. It's easy enough to be taught to first year players or sight-read for more advanced players. The melody bounces around the sections so every player gets a piece of it. It is in D major and I've worked it so that there are no high 3's or extensions (although the bass does shift up to High C#. If this is too much you could always switch the C#s to the A string). You can add a repeat or two at the end to make it longer. We added a verse for soloists and a pizzicato verse.
With good intonation and emotion, this is a really beautiful arrangement that sounds much more complex than it actually is. I hope you love performing it!
