Requires Onedrive and Microsoft Excel
How many pets live in your house? How many minutes does it take you to get to school? How many texts do you send in a day? What's your shoe size? How many seconds can you hold your breath? How long can you balance on one leg? What's your pulse?
Use this spreadsheet to teach statistics using data your students care about -- their own. Pose a question, then have students submit answers using the online survey attached to the spreadsheet (answers can also be entered manually). Then use the tabs on the spreadsheet to look at the mean, median, mode, quartiles, interquartile range, mean absolute deviation, box plot, dot plot, circle graph, and histogram of the data.
The spreadsheet can be used over and over - just delete previous survey responses before posing a new question. Useful for developing an understanding of the meaning of the statistics.
Simply upload the spreadsheet to your OneDrive account, and get a link to the survey to share with your students. Instructions included on the "Setup" tab of the spreadsheet.
