This beginner recorder unit is designed for beginner musicians in upper elementary or middle school general music with no knowledge of music or playing recorder. There are 7 original songs with backing tracks in a hip-hop and R&B feel. The teaching powerpoint is 19 slides long. The performance or pass off songs are in the powerpoint and can be displayed on a projector. The backing tracks are embedded in the powerpoint file.
The zip file contains a corresponding printable student workbook that is 18 pages. The students have a note-taking guide for learning new notes, worksheets to practice letter recognition on the staff, basic rhythmic value recognition practice, fingerings for letter B, A, and G, as well as each pass off song. The last section of the student workbook is a study guide for the end of unit recorder assessment. The end of the unit test consists of 10 written questions.
The student study guide contains five practice patterns for the assessment. If you need to add a playing portion to your assessment, use the patterns in the study guide for your playing assessment.
The notes covered in this unit are B, A, and G.
