A couple of years ago I designed this activity specifically for my EFL/ESL beginner high school students. It was intended for African history/heritage month. I have since then used it many more times as the tolerance theme has become even more relevant with recent mews. Instead of waiting for a specific month, I have decided to incorporate such themes into my lesson plans as a mini lesson/unit.
This product includes:
-- A 09 page slideshow presentation that can be used as a guide during class making discussion easier for students to follow. The presentation includes a set of questions for discussion about the role of music, the lyrics to the song, images of the artists, a glossary, questions intended to help analyze the lyrics as well as the definition of the word ebony.
-- A lesson plan that includes objective of the lesson, methodology/intended steps to be applied.
-- 03 types of song activities ( simple gap fill, gap fill with a pre-listening step and listen and reorder).
-- Answer key for song activities.
My intention with the activity was to practice listening and oral skills as well as the use of language that goes beyond grammar and vocabulary use.
