This activity can be done in a group, in partners or individually. Students use data gotten from footprint network.org and calculate the deficit or reserve they get which shows which countries are closer to demanding what their country can supply for their lifestyle. They also will look at how the world as a whole has done since 1961 in getting our footprint to match our biocapacity. Before giving partners this worksheet, I lecture on the Ecological Footprint and often have them do the "My Ecological Footprint" activity to familiarize them about the footprint and what it means to them.
You can get an on-line quiz/questionnaire for students to calculate their own footprint from several sites. I used one from www.sustainenergy.org but they are everywhere. Just google-in "ecological footprint quiz" and you will see many to choose from.
