Ecology Lab Bundle for Middle School

Do you enjoy allowing your kids to learn about the environment they live in? Then this activity bundle is for you. These are three activities I have done from over a decade to help my kids better understand their place in the world. Take a walk, pick up some grass, study a small plot of soil, these are all essential activities. There are over 60 pages of activities, templates and resources for your students.

Included in this bundle (Click links for individual lesson).

Watershed Digital Lab for Middle School: I like to have student research their local watershed and help them better understand where water goes when they are done with it. If they flush a toilet, can they tell you where it goes? (Hint: sometimes it flows to rival schools, which is fun to know)

Ecology Field Lab For Middle School: Quadrat Study: This is the classic quadrat study you have may have done as a biology student with a middle school spin. My goal is to simply get kids to look at what is right in front of their noses. Kids too often see only a patch of weeds or a shrub. This activity encourages them to look closer.

Non Point Source Pollution Models for Science: Do your actions really make a difference, the answer is yes! Using these in class models made with simple materials, students illustrate how simple actions can affect their watershed. The most important part of this lesson is that it starts the discussion about what they can do to make the environment a better place.
