Covers the following performance expectations:
MS-LS2-3. Develop a model to describe the cycling of matter and flow of energy among living and nonliving parts of an ecosystem.
MS-LS2-4. Construct an argument supported by empirical evidence that changes to physical or biological components of an ecosystem affect populations.
Also includes some vocabulary. Students will label producers, primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary consumers in a food web. Students will also label herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores.
Students create their own food web using a portion of a larger list of organisms, and then describe a situation where the populations in their ecosystem would be affected by a biological or physical change.
