Uncovering Student Misconceptions about Energy In Living Things
This is a pre-assessment/anticipation guide to help you determine what misconceptions your students might hold about how living things obtain and use energy. It also includes a student self-reflection to use at the end of your ecology unit.
Symbiosis Reading, Analysis, and Color-by-Number
This is one of my bestsellers. It gets great reviews from teachers of students from fifth grade to high school! Students read about symbiotic relationships, then they apply what they’ve learned to some real life examples by answering questions and completing a color-by-number answer sheet. It includes:
• One page reading on types of symbiosis
• Student worksheet
• Color-by-number answer sheet
• Full color key
Root Word Task Cards for Ecology
Task cards are a great way to get kids engaged in learning. This set includes:
• 54 Task Cards (27 if printed double sided).
• Ideas for the using the cards.
• Student Answer Sheets (two versions) for the task card questions.
• An answer key for the task card questions.
• Three different practice worksheets.
• Answer keys for the practice worksheets.
BOLO Alert Invasive Species Research Project
Students complete a BOLO Alert as if they were officers in an international organization of environmental protection agencies in search of an invasive species "suspect"! It’s a quick way to have students do research on an invasive species with a fun product for them to complete. And it's NO PREP for you!
Included in the product:
• An annotate list of websites for student research
• A BOLO alert form
• Teacher’s Guide
• Sample completed form for your reference or to use as a model with students.
Wish You Were Here Post Card To An Invasive Species
This is a fun (quick) persuasive writing activity that students complete after researching an assigned habitat and an invasive species in that habitat. They write a post card to the invasive species, as if that species hadn’t already invaded the assigned habitat to persuade the invasive species that the habitat is a perfect place to move to! Then they draw a picture (just like a real postcard) to illustrate the characteristics that made the habitat suitable for the species to invade.
Ecology Vocabulary Domino Game
This is a set of “dominoes”, each of which has an ecology unit vocabulary word and a definition for a different
ecology vocabulary word. Students match the definition end of one domino with the matching word on a different domino, continuing until all the vocabulary words are matched with their definition. Students can compete as pairs, in teams, or try to beat their own best time playing alone. The set comes with a foldable envelope for students to store their domino set in their interactive notebook.
Desert Biomes Reading, Mapping, Color-by-Number
This resource includes reading passages about the desert, and about camels - an iconic animal of the desert - with questions for each reading passage, with a color by number answer sheet that works with either set of questions.
Taiga: The Boreal Forest Reading, Mapping, Color-by-Number
This is a resource similar to the Desert Biomes product, except that the reading passages are about the taiga, and the color-by-number picture to go with the questions is a brown bear.
Temperate (Deciduous) Forest Biome.
This is similar to the other Biome Reading products. It is slightly larger than the others, containing more reading passages. The color by number picture in this resource is a wolf.
Grasslands Reading Mapping and Color by Number
This is similar to the other Biome Reading products. The animal featured in this resource is a giraffe.
The Taiga: Google Drive Video
This is an original 7.5 minute video with professionally recorded music, professional sound effects, and text (not narration). It is accessed by a link to Google Drive (you must have a Google account to access the film). It comes with a student worksheet, graphic organizer, and discussion questions provided as a (printable) PDF file in this bundle. If you would like to see an excerpt of the video, click on the title link above. In the product description there is a link to a video excerpt.
