Pg. 12-14 Irregular Verbs – Copy pages A and B back to back to form a book, make a list of irregular verbs on the front cover, choose six to use – open up the book to write three different sentences for each verb
Pg. 15-18 Main Idea Pocket! – fold the main idea paper in half and glue the sides to form a pocket, write the main idea in the space provided, cut out the four supporting detail cards, fill them out and place them in your main idea pocket
Pg. 19-20 Response Writing – write about the importance of Earth’s Oceans and How to Protect a Natural Resource – include supporting details
Pg. 21-23 It’s In My Hands – copy pages A and B back to back – fold on the solid line, flip open the book – write 5 things you do to take care of the earth and 5 things you want to do to take care of the earth
Pg. 24 Compare and Contrast Poetry – take two poems from your reading selection to compare and contrast – Do the poems rhyme, is it free verse, does it have metaphors or similes, does it use alliteration?
Pg. 25-32 Multiple Meaning Word Tree – copy the patterns onto the appropriate colored construction paper – write six multiple meaning words onto the red berries – glue the red berries onto the green part of the tree – staple the top layer of the green tree, the white writing papers in the middle, and the back layer of the green tree – glue the trunk to the back – flip up the top of the tree – write two sentences to show two different meanings of each word you chose to write on a red berry – illustrate your sentences – see example
Pg. 33-41 How Can I Protect the Earth? – a writing and craft activity – copy the patterns onto the appropriate colored construction paper – glue together as seen in the example - add your writing and craft to a large piece of construction paper
