This webquest covers ecosystems, habitats, microhabitats, ecological succession, primary and secondary succession, and biodiversity. This engaging lesson will support your ecology / ecosystems unit or help your students prepare for standardized tests by mastering the key concepts surrounding ecology.
Full teacher keys are included. I use this webquest as a fun review at the end of my ecology unit. Designed to specifically cover Texas TEKS 7.10A, 7.10B, and 8.11C. Although created to align with Texas State standards, this lesson will be useful in any classroom that covers ecosystems, ecology, ecological succession, habitats, microhabitats, and biodiversity.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE LESSON
✓ A four page webquest that guides students to a variety of engaging, easy to read websites, and video clips that supports the lesson. The lesson is broken up into short, topic specific sections so your students can concentrate on specific areas if desired. Lesson utilizes shortened “tiny URLs” to allow for ease of use, especially if students need to type out the URL.
✓ Full teacher keys.
✓ A second version of the webquest with the complete URLs if you prefer.
✓ All custom fonts used to create the lesson. They are rights cleared, so feel free to use them for any purpose, even for creating lessons you plan to sell on TPT!
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO TEACH
Approximately one to two class periods in length (as a point of reference, I teach a 50-minute class). I generally block out one class period in the computer lab and most students have time to finish. To allow for those that can’t finish, I print the packets and assign any remaining work as homework. I usually complete the full lesson in three class periods. Created by Mister Science.
If you’re teaching a unit covering ecosystems your students may enjoy my very popular “I have, who has” game in which students use their knowledge of ecology, ecosystems, biomes, food webs, and food chains to play. My students always have a lot of fun with this game!
