A behavior management plan based on a mini-economic system. Students will apply for jobs, pay rent/purchase their desk, pay taxes at the end of the year, and earn bonus money or fines based on behavior.
The file includes:
labels for a banker's box (shoe box used to keep banking slips)
I did not include money (bills) with this file, because I have found that it is easier to keep track of and manage all of the banking without them. Deposit and withdrawal slips are filled out as the students receive them, or some can be pre-printed with certain common behaviors. For example: caught being good, random act of kindness, calling out, etc.
I have found the Banker's Box extremely helpful. All slips are placed in the Banker's Box, and during warm-up time one day a week I pass out the slips inside. Students use this time to make adjustments to their bankbook. I always include bankers as one of the jobs. That way there are more people able to move around the room and help those that need it. I then collect all of the slips and keep them in an index box. These make great references for parent conferences or report cards.
One of the most common questions I get is about what to do when students' balances go below zero. The best thing I have found for these students to earn extra money is to have them do extra worksheets on skills they need to practice or to do extra chores around the room.
I hope you find this file helpful in starting your own mini-economic system within your room. It is completely editable, so use it as is or as the bones to make your own.
