In this assignment students will view 5 video sources that describe characteristics of Command, Free Market, and Mixed economic systems. Students are tasked with identifying or inferring facts/characteristics about each economic system and arranging them into a graphic organizer based on the three essential economic questions. This is a great assignment to follow up direct instruction or textual reading on economic systems. The digital media will keep students engaged and the length and complexity of each videos varies in order to appeal to all student interest and ability level.
A grading key is provided within the assignment instructions. Students can work on this assignment individually, in groups, or even as a whole class. Ideally personal computer devices should be available, but your students can also do this assignment while viewing each video as a whole class on the projector screen. this activity should take approximately 45 minutes - 1 hour to complete and review.
