Economic Systems and Macroeconomics Video Analysis with Key-
This is a 10 page document that contains a video analysis assignment and a completed teachers key for easy marking. It contains 26 questions based on The Crash Course Economics video: Economic Systems and Macroeconomics.
This assignment will ask students to go to YouTube and watch the Crash Course video: Economic Systems and Macroeconomics. The video will introduce students to the topic of wants and how we as a society need to determine what will be produced, how it will be produced and who gets it. The factors of production are reviewed (land, labor and capitol) and then the video begins to explain the difference between a command/planned economy and a free market economy. Communism and socialism are juxtaposed so students can understand the difference when discussing command economies. The free market and the invisible hand are covered and students learn why competition is a good thing for consumers. The video then explains how most economies are a mixed system. The governments role in providing police/fire departments, schools, and infrastructure is covered as is government regulation over industry. The video concludes by analyzing how economic systems can change over time.
This video analysis can be easily used as an introduction to the topic, a study guide, or a quick and easy sub plan. Students love the independence of this assignment by getting to use laptops, Chromebooks, or even their own cellphones to watch the video. Crash Course videos tend to move fast so students often find success if they watch the video through once before going back to pause/play to find the answers to all of the questions.
