Product Description
Economics Packet: I designed this packet and wrote the passages with the Georgia social studies standards in mind. These passages about economics are not specific to GA though, so they can be used by any teacher covering the same topics, which are:

✱Opportunity cost
✱Decision making
✱Price incentives
✱Specialization
✱Voluntary Exchange
✱Trade
✱Technological advancements
✱ A few other basic terms are incorporated, such as goods/services, consumer/producer, scarcity and a few more.

These passages help connect the economics concepts mentioned above to present day decision making and past events from US History. Please note that they do make reference to events in US history, so if you are not from the US, these may not work for you.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Here are the standards from GA:

A. Describe opportunity cost and its relationship to decision-making across time (e.g., decisions to settle in the west).
B. Explain how price incentives affect people’s behavior and choices: decisions about what crops (e.g., cotton, and tobacco) to grow and products (e.g., textiles) to produce.
C. Describe how specialization improves standards of living (e.g., differences in the economies in the North and South).
D. Explain how voluntary exchange helps both buyers and sellers. (e.g. gold rush, mining town)
E. Describe how trade promotes economic activity (e.g., trade between the U.S. and Europe).
F. Give examples of technological advancements and their impact on business productivity during the development of the United States (e.g., cotton gin, steamboat, steam locomotive, and telegraph).

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The pack includes 5 1/2 pages of text (passages related to the standards above) and includes 6 activities that can be used with the text. The activities can be completed individually, with a partner, or as a class. The activities should provide good topics for class discussions.

There is also a fun cover page if you would like to staple the pages in the pack into a workbook format. This is how I would choose to use them in my classroom. Kids can color the cover, which has details about what is in the economics packet.

17 pages are included. Five of those are answer keys for the activities.

I feel sure you and your students are going to love using this packet to learn about economics.

Please... if you ever notice anything in my passages that needs to be corrected, such as a date or any other factual information, please send me a message before you rate the product. I do my best to research thoroughly and provide historical facts. I can look back over and have a new copy uploaded fairly quickly.

Also, if you notice typos or anything else, that is appreciated too. Even with several sets of eyes looking over my work, at times a word can be missed. Thanks so much ahead of time.
