This lesson gives a full page background explanation for students before listing needed definitions of types of economies, and political systems. The student assignment explanation follows the definitions. I have asked students to rewrite the rules of the original Monopoly game to reflect a different type of economy or political system.
This lesson includes a brief example for students on "Socialist Monopoly." Following the assignment and example, I have included the original rules to the Monopoly game to show students what issues/ideas they will need to address.
To culminate this lesson, students in my class brought in their Monopoly games at home and were allowed to play once with their new game rules.
