You can choose to display each of these posters as you teach, or you can display them all at once. You can also print them in color or black and white 4-6 to a page for students to glue in a social studies or science notebook.
I use this poem for the first week that I teach wants and needs. We discuss that even though we don’t “need” love, we really do. My students love this poem and the activities are perfect review for students. They use the larger pocket chart strips to reorder the poem in word work.
Goods and Services
Wants and Needs
Consumers and Producers
I spend a week teaching goods and services. I like to break down the learning by one of week of goods and services, one of Wants and needs, and one week of producers and consumers. Students have an opportunity to learn about each and have a formative assessment after each week. I use my interactive notebook as my final review. Students take these home to parents, and they can use it as a study guide. Then I have students take their summative assessment.
You can choose to use the interactive notebook right after this unit for only the goods and services or you can wait to review at the end. Students also have a sort that can be differentiated. Students have the option of sorting just goods and services, or ones that are both. Students can sort the goods and services by wants and needs as well.
This unit is 71 pages, and I will be adding about 10 more pages about saving and spending soon.
