This classroom economy is the set-up of a month or so long economy curriculum unit. It is geared toward 2-6th graders. Included in the packet are a list of expenses/bills/taxes, incomes, “tickets” banker applications, notes to send to parents, recording sheets for students, reflections about the unit, and tickets for the end of unit incentive. At the end of the month, students can purchase a ticket to see the movie “The Grinch” along with popcorn/drink, and wearing pajamas to school. This unit teaches about producers, consumers, types of taxes, types of bills, and goods vs. wants while keeping your class focused before winter break. It works best right before the Christmas season.
