Product Description
Are you studying ecosystems, predators/prey, and food webs in your class? Then this is a perfect way to assess student learning in a highly-engaging manner. Students will investigate an animal that humans frequently consider "pests": mice, snakes, mosquitoes, bees, invasive species of plants, etc. Through this project, students will use higher-level thinking skills to analyze how these creatures affect their ecosystems. This EDITABLE document is ready-to-print and hand to students. Put students in control of their own learning.

When I've assigned this in the past, students have had wonderful discussions about how even animals that humans frequently view as negative, can fill niches in ecosystems. For example, students who may be afraid of bees will start to understand the important role that a bee plays in pollination.

This project has inspired rich discussions with my students, and I hope it will with yours, too.

Note: I have also used this assignment as a partner project successfully.
