When I've assigned this in the past, students have had wonderful discussions about how even animals that humans frequently view as negative, can fill niches in ecosystems. For example, students who may be afraid of bees will start to understand the important role that a bee plays in pollination.
This project has inspired rich discussions with my students, and I hope it will with yours, too.
